Talented textile artist Jo Polack runs our Felt Fantastic Workshop
Jo Polack, who runs the Aggie Arts felt making courses and workshops, is a textile artist living and working in St Agnes. For the past decade she has worked in environmental and community arts initiating events, workshops and projects which encourage people to explore the environment through creativity and create nature based art.
Jo then completed studies at Herefordshire College of Art and now has the joy of working from the ‘Hummingbird Workshop’; from her Studio Gallery in Peterville, St Agnes.
As a textile artist Jo creates in whatever media takes her fancy that day! Under her label ‘Textiles with a Twist’, felt, stitch, own-made collage papers, print, re-used materials and found objects become hanging sculptures, wall hangings, framed art, mobiles, vases & cloth books.
Recently she has been expanding her range of ‘Flying Jewels’: Hummingbirds, Kingfishers and fish which hang and catch the light beautifully in any home or special event. These were showcased at Cornwall Design Fair 2011. Mixed media Seaweed collages, where science and art meet have sprung from many winter days around the rock pools sketching. Jo is currently creating large textile hangings exploring ‘What Lies Beneath’ our Cornish waters, inspired by local dive photography.
